Redgate Beach is a very popular surfing beach and is close to Margaret River and Augusta.
Access to this beach is from Caves Road as you travel south from Yallingup. You will pass many of the states best wineries on this road so be careful not to get distracted. You go past Canal Rocks and continue towards Boranup Forest, another of my favourite sites. Before you get to Boranup you turn right off Caves Road and travel just a few kilometers to get to the beach.
Caves Road has many corners and the speed limit is between 80 and 90 kilometers per hour. You would be very well advised to stay within these limits as the road is also quite busy. It is sealed all the way so there is no difficulty in getting to the beach.
If you happen to be at the beach when there are some large waves you will need your camera. The large granite rocks just off shore send up some spectacular sprays when the big waves crash into them.
This is an unpatrolled beach that has some strong currents and rips. Care must be taken here and it is advised to never surf alone from this beach. The surf is good as the beach is exposed to the full force of the Indian Ocean.
